Description

Released in 2000, Pokémon Stadium was the place to organize, upgrade, and battle your personal collection of pocket monsters. With all sorts of information about the popular license, as well as some really fun two-player action, the game greatly enhanced the collection of trainers endeavoring to "catch 'em all." Now fans have a new version to look forward to: Pokémon Stadium 2.

You will be able to upload, store, and train all of your new Pokémon from Silver and Gold into this game with Nintendo's Transfer Pak accessory. Then you can enter the characters into a variety of new tournaments, as well any of the 12 new minigames, such as Barrier Ball, a Breakout-style game, and Clear Cut Challenge, where players will try to slice falling logs in half. According to a Nintendo spokesperson, entering a leveled-up character in a minigame can give you a crucial advantage over your competition.

The game battles are basically the same as they were in the previous version, but the graphics have been given a makeover, and some of the new Pokémon included in Pokémon Stadium 2 will have never-before-seen attacks.

Nintendo has also added a raft of new features. The GB Tower can now play all five Pokémon Game Boy Color games on your N64 through the Transfer Pak. Expanded Pokémon Lab and Pokédex functions will let you upgrade your Silver and Gold characters by giving them new items and will allow you to swap characters between cartridges or with friends.

An all-new Pokémon Academy acts as a player's guide for all of the titles. For those who are not up on the Pokémon jargon, characters, or strengths, Pokémon Stadium 2 offers detailed lectures in the Academy on the various Pokémon types, attacks, strengths, weaknesses, and locations. After you study, you can take tests, or enter the all-new four-player quiz mode to find out which one of your friends is an expert on Pokémon trivia.

Cheats

Celebi as rental:
Unlock Round 2 to access Celebi as a rental Pokemon in the Prime Cup competition.

Farfetch'd with Baton Pass move:
Win the Rival Cup to get a Farfetch'd that knows the Baton Pass move.

Gligar with Earthquake move:
Win the Rival Cup in Round 2 to get a Gligar that knows the Earthquake move.

Alternate title screen:
Win all the Stadium Cups in Round 1 to have more Pokemon appear at the title screen. Win all the Stadium Cups in Round 2 for another variation.

Alternate Pokemon colors:
Name your Pokemon with reversed name or one that includes part of their original name. For example, Two-mew for Mewtwo or Buzzy for Electabuzz. They will have a different tint or color.

Name your Mewtwo "PSYCO" (case-sensitive) and it will have a dark blue belly.

Doduo and Dodrio modes:
Defeat the trainers in either the Gym Leader Castle or get all of the trophies in the Round One Stadium to unlock the Doduo Tower to play your Pokemon Red, Blue, and Yellow versions twice as fast. Once you defeat everyone in White City except your Rival and the Pokemon Academy, you will unlock the Dodrio Tower to play your Pokemon Red, Blue, and Yellow versions four times as fast. Follow the same steps in Round Two to play your Pokemon Gold and Silver versions two or four times their normal speeds. Note: When you earn the towers in Round Two for Pokemon Gold and Silver, the game will not tell you that it has been unlocked. Additionally, when you play Pokemon Gold or Silver on one of the higher speeds it will be in black and white.

Rival Cup:
Win all the Stadium Cups and defeat all the Gym Leader Castle trainers to unlock the Rival Cup competition. Your rival's team consists of Mewtwo, Ho-oh and Lugia.

Round-2:
Win the Rival Cup.

Very Hard mini-game mode:

Super Hard mini-game difficulty:
Defeat the CPU in a seven-coin mini-game under the hard difficulty setting.

Move rememberer:
Defeat the Elite Four in the Johto Gym Leader Castle. You have to win the Castle with a team of your own, with no rentals or registered Pokemon. When you win you will be able to teach one Pokemon on your team a past move that they forgot or never learned. That is how you can get Pokemon such as Mewtwo to learn Confusion, or Zapdos to learn Peck. You can do this as many times as needed.

Kanto Gym Leader tower:
Successfully complete the Johto Gym Leader tower.

Passing Earl's Pokemon Academy battles:
Read the lectures, then pass his test. After that is done, and before battle, read the hint. It will tell you what you need to do in order to pass the battle with a star. For example, to battle Lass Nancy in round one, you need to use Pokemon with support moves, as Earl says in his hint for Lass Nancy. This means you may want to use Noctowl for Foresight, Golbat for Haze, and Eevee for Swift, since Swift can never miss. You do not have to use the support move necessarily, just the Pokemon that has it.

Mystery Gift:
At the main screen (with White City, Event Battle, and Battle Now), select "Mystery Gift". Follow the onscreen directions to receive a gift that can be picked up at the Pokemon Lab. You can only use this if you have either Pokemon Gold or Silver in a Transfer Pak.

Better Mystery Gifts:
Do the Mystery Gift option at about the same time each day. For example, do it at 10:30 a.m. every day. You are more likely to receive items such as the Scope Lens and items for your room.

Unlimited Mystery Gifts:
Note This trick requires a Transfer Pak and Pokemon Gold or Silver. :Make sure your Pokemon Gold or Silver game is saved at a Pokemon Center. Go to the Mystery Gift option. Use Mystery Gift. Go to Game Boy Tower. Use the "Set time" trick and use your password to change the time in Pokemon Gold or Silver. Change the time one day forward. Go back to Mystery Gift on Pokemon Stadium 2 and use it. Repeat this until you get the items you want.

Light Ball:
The Light Ball doubles Pikachu's Special Attack. You can get this by removing the items from Pikachu from Pokemon Yellow.

Thick Club:
The Thick Club doubles Cubone's and Marowak's Attack power. You can get this by removing the items from Cubone or Marowak from Pokemon Red, Blue, or Yellow.

Easy Game Corner coins:
Play the mini-games with any number of players while a Pokemon game is in the Transfer Pak.

Mini-games:
Have a Pokemon game in the transfer pack when you play the mini-games. The game will search for Pokemon that you own for use in the mini-games. Some of the Pokemon include the following

Gutsy Golbat: Golbat and Crobat
ClearCut Challenge: Scyther, Pinsir, and Scizor
Barrier Ball: Mr. Mime
Topsy-Turvy: Hitmontop
Furret's Frolic: Furret and Girafarig
Pichu's Power Plant: Pichu, Elekid, and Pikachu
Rampage Rollout: Donphan
Tumbling Togepi: Togepi and Omanyte
Egg Emergency: Chansey
Streaming Stampede: Cleffa and Igglybuff
Delibird's Delivery: Delibird
Eager Eevee: Eevee

Hint: Recommended Pokemon Team for battling the Elite Four:
Tyranitar, Feraligator, Charizard, Mewtwo, Lugia, Zapdos.

Hint: Recommended Pokemon Team for battling Picnicker Cyndy:
Granbull, Fearow, Lickitung. Lead with Granbull.

Hint: Recommended Pokemon Team for battling Lass Nancy:
Eevee, Golbat, Noctowl. Stick with Eevee's Swift attack which never misses.

Hint: Recommended team for Little Cup:
A good team for the Little Cup is Phanpy, Charmander, Totodile, Mareep, Mankey, and Swinub.

A recommended Pokemon rental team for the Little Cup is Spearow (Bitter Berry), Abra (Mint Berry), Machop (Ice Berry), Chinchou (Przcureberry), Wooper (Psncureberry), Phanpy (Berry),

Hint: Recommended team for your Rival on Round One:
Note: If you train your Mewtwo, Tyranitar, and Charizard correctly and to level 100, then you will only need them to defeat your Rival in Round One.

Mewtwo with Thunderbolt, Psychic, Bubble Beam, and Recover.
Tyranitar with Surf, Crunch, Earthquake, and Rock Slide.
Charizard with Flamethrower, Dragon Rage, Fly, and Slash.
Feraligater with Surf, Bite, Slash, and Hydro Pump.
Mew with Transform, Thunderbolt, Psychic, and Metronome.
Arcanine with Crunch, Flamethrower, Extremspeed, and Flame Wheel.

Hint: Recommended team for Rival Round Two:
Make sure you have Hitmontop and Zapdos fighting Lugia; Wobbuffet and Aerodactyl against Ho-oh; and finally Corsola and Voltorb against Mewtwo.

Hint: Recommended team for Poke Cup Master Ball tournament:

Kingdra with Surf, Ice Beam, Dragonbreath, Smokescreen.
Magneton with Thunderbolt, Hyper Beam, Thunder Wave, Swift.
Aerodactyl with Fly, Take Down, Ancient Power, Hyper Beam
Zapdos with Thunder Bolt, Thunder Wave, Drill Peck, Razor Wind or Sky Attack.
Heracross with Counter, Reversal, Take Down, Megahorn
Espeon with Psychic, Psybeam, Bite, Morning Sun

Note: Two of these Pokemon should be at level 55 and the rest at level 50. Espeon and Zapdos should be at level 55.

Hint: Recommended team:
A good all-around line-up is Dugtrio, Heracross, Lanturn, Ursaring, Miltank, and Dragonite. If you choose the correct Pokemon for each battle you will have no weaknesses, because you will have a super effective move for every kind of opponent.

Hint: Challenge Cup:
If you do not get a Pokemon team that you are comfortable with, quit and try again until you find one that you are comfortable with.

Hint: Togepi:
Go to the Gym Leader Castle and go directly to the Elite Four. After you defeat Lance and can fight your rival, press B to leave the Gym Leader Castle. Go to the Prime Cup and win in Master Ball. Go back to the Gym Leader Castle and defeat your rival. You will now be able to use Togepi as a rental Pokemon.

Use the following trick to unlock and keep Togepi. Defeat a Gyarados, Venasaur, and Mewtwo with Bulbasaur. Then, go to the Pokemon Lab and Professor Oak will give you a Toge Stone. Use it on a Bulbasaur and it will evolve in to a Togepi.

Hint: Defeating Mewtwo:
Rent any team, but include Electrode and Raticate. As soon as the battle starts, use Electrode's Thunder Wave. While Mewtwo is paralyzed, use Raticate's Super Fang. After that, just hack away to defeat him easily.

Hint: Egg Emergency: Voltorb numbers:
Press Start you are playing Egg Emergency and the game is on the instruction screen. When a voltorb flies into the P1 pouch, there will be one Voltorb, P2 two Voltorbs ,P3 three Voltorbs, and P4 four Voltorbs.

Hint: Egg Emergency: Starting egg:
On any difficulty setting, the mini-game will start with one egg right in the middle.

Hint: Pichu's Power Plant: Use Pikachu:
You can use Pikachu in Pichu's Power Plant if you have a Pikachu and Pokemon Yellow in the Transfer Pak. Note: You can only use the Pikachu that you got from Professor Oak in Pallet Town.

Hint: Donphan mini-game: Boost at start:
There are three Beebs. Press A on the third.

Hint: More Knowledge at Pokemon Academy:
Once you have finished all the classes, passed all of the tests, and won the school battles (beating the Elite Class), more information will be available at the Library, including all Items available in all of the Game Boy Pokemon games.

If you complete all of the Pokemon lab, you will be able to get information in the Pokemon library about what levels each Pokemon learns an attack in Pokemon Gold and Silver, including Mew and Celibi.

Hint: Faster game speed on the Game Boy:
Win the Pokemon League on the Pokecup and have all Pokeball, Great Ball, Ultra Ball, and Master Ball. Then, go to the Game Boy. Press C-Right to set load max, then press C-Right or C-Left to stop loading and to have double Game Boy speed.

Hint: Game appearances on television:
In "My Room", when you have the video game consoles (NES, SNES, and Nintendo 64) to decorate your room, they will also decorate the television. For example, when you use the NES, games as The Legend of Zelda, Donkey Kong, Kirby and Super Mario Bros. will appear on the television screen. For the SNES, the games are Legend Of Zelda: A Link to the Past, F-Zero, Kirby Super Star and Super Mario World. For the Nintendo 64, the games are Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Wave Race 64, Super Mario 64, and Star Fox 64. There are no decorations for the Virtual Boy.
